CJLS is committed to serving the legal needs of our clients and is continuing to provide services during the COVID19 crisis. To ensure the health and safety of our employees, we are currently seeing clients in our offices by appointment. If you need legal help, call the CJLS office nearest you and leave us a message. We will get back to you within two business days. You can also email us at cjls@lsnj.org or fill out the contact form on this site. An intake or case worker will get back to you.
The best way to apply for service is to call the CJLS office in your county.
You can fill out the contact form here. Be sure to include a phone number where we can reach you and as much detail as you can about your legal problem. Include information about any notices or documents you’ve received, any court dates, or anything else you think will help us understand your issue. If you have an immediate issue, especially an upcoming court date, please call us.
To qualify for our services, you must meet certain low-income guidelines. There are exceptions for people age 60 and over, as well as certain other applicants. We determine if you qualify by looking at family size, income, assets, and living expenses.
Remember, there are certain case types that CJLS does not handle.
