Immigration Paralegal
Central Jersey Legal Services, Inc. seeks an immigration paralegal to help low-income survivors of domestic violence prepare applications to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services “USCIS.” This is a full-time position with job duties which include helping clients gather evidence, translating documents from English into Spanish and from Spanish into English, and working with the legal team that assists survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Requirements:
Bi-lingual Spanish and English with excellent verbal and writing skills in both languages, commitment to serving low income survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, and excellent interpersonal skills. Legal Aid experience, immigration law experience, or other relevant experience a plus.
Job Description:
Help clients prepare and gather evidence for U and T Visa applications, VAWA self-petitions, and applications to remove conditions on permanent residence. Maintain up to date and detailed case notes. Use working knowledge of domestic violence based immigration relief to evaluate clients’ evidence and flag potential issues for the supervising attorney. Translate case materials from Spanish to English to submit to USCIS; translate informational materials, correspondence, and other documents from English to Spanish. Assist attorney with final application preparation as needed. Review and proofread final application materials before submission to USCIS.

Requirements:
Commitment to serving low income community; 2 years family law experience; excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Bi-lingual Spanish & English preferred; other multi-lingual a plus. Legal Aid experience a plus.
